The belated Valentines outfit

I did wear it out to dinner with my husband on Valentines day but never took any pictures of the whole outfit. I was too distracted by my very handsome date. I hope you understand.
I ended up making another blouse I liked better and wore that with the skirt.
I bought this swallow fabric recently and had plans for it as a blouse. It's the same shape as blouse number one but with white collar and cuffs for a little contrast. I really like the fabric and might get it in other colours.

I could have ironed the skirt, huh...but it is a lazy Saturday here ;-)

Without the belt. I seem to wear this with everything at the moment. I boned the waistband of the skirt. I like my waistbands to be very high (trousers and skirts) so the boning holds them up and keeps them in shape better when sitting down.

This is blouse number 1, which was meant to be the Valentines blouse but after the heart shaped pockets never happened the whole shirt never did. Oh well, there will be a day I wear it. I promise.

Some twirling action and stupid face to go with it. (You've got to have one of those twirly pictures when presenting a circle skirt!!!)

Or you can wait for the wind to do the job and blow it up. This however doesn't seem to happen when ready to shoot the picture....

And this is how I'm wearing it today. Hidden away under a jumper, looking like a school teacher.

kitty picture of the day

And this was me and my handsome date before we had too much wine and too much delicious food.

Thanks for your time. Let me know what you think. I know it ended up quite different from the Lena Hoschek look but it was just an inspiration, I didn't mean to copy it. Have a great weekend.

How could I forget New York?

Wow, I have no idea how that happened but I totally forgot to blog about our stop in New York city as part of our epic holiday. I think this happened because NYC is the place I probably took the most pictures....so many iconic buildings and places. Anyways, I don't want you to miss out on some of them........
The flat iron building - My favourite building in NYC
I was wearing the skirt and top I made as part of the Spring Palette Challenge.
I tried to pull off a Marilyn on the subway vents but wasn't patient enough to wait long enough so no pictures... It did however happen later on when I wasn't expecting it. I hope everyone around me had a good laugh....
Another dress I never posted. I made this last year. Just a simple shift dress. Nothing special.
Husband had a great time on the Intrepid air craft carrier (I enjoyed it too...they had an exhibition on women in the 2nd world war)
Of course we had to go to the garment district so I could have my picture taken with the iconic button and needle...
.....and even more important with this guy. I think every seamstress that makes it to New York, comes home with a picture taken here.
Time square magic
And bye bye NYC........

Last Spring palette outfit finished. Nautical top and circle skirt and Me made March day 1 and 2

Finally the last outfit I made as part of the Colette Spring palette challenge and outfit one of Me Made March. The top is a lovely soft jersey. I drafted the pattern by tracing just one of my simple jersey tops I have in my wardrobe. Nothing fancy, just front and back piece...fits easily due to the stretch in the fabric. I made my own self fabric bias binding to finish the neckline, armholes and hem (not shown in the pictures). The skirt is just a simple circle skirt I drafted when I made the two (1 and 2) lace dresses. I just drafted a waistband for this one since it's not attached to a bodice and voila a circle skirt. I used the same button on the skirt, trousers and shorts to keep it all tied together.
I hope you like my little Spring palette collection of nautical loveliness. I am sure these pieces will occur quite frequently during Me Made March. Who else has joined Zoe's Me Made March? Let me know so I can check out your daily outfits.
This leads to another question, would you like to see my MMM outfit posts on a daily or weekly basis or something in between?

And today's outfit: The only thing MM I am wearing is the blouse. Blogged about here.
