Busy Bee Bea

Oops I did it again or lets better say, oops I made another one.
Since I had all day to myself I really went for it and kicked out another dress after finishing the one in my last post.
This one is a bit more 1960s babydoll style. It is again a lovely printed crepe de chine dress. The bodice is fully lined again and the sort of skirt bit is partly pleated around the empire waist line.
It sits very lose and is therefore one of the most comfortable styles to wear. It is also absolutely fantastic for this time of year as it hides any excess Christmas weight.
Edit 1.01.2010 This item is sold already. If you want me to make one for you in your size, please get in touch.

New little vintage number including accessories

I just finished this little dress today. Dave had to take on a duty last minute leaving me behind eager to get back into my work room. This is the result of my work. A beautiful dress made out of crepe de chine. I loved the print and all the colours so much. I ordered a whole bunch of printed crepe de chine so keep checking back for more colourful garments in the near future.
Anyway back to this one here. The bodice is fully lined in a matching pink cotton. I left the skirt unlined as the fabric is heavy enough and falls beautifully on it's own. It zips up in the back.

I made a matching belt which is held together by a popper. I added a vintage button. The same button went on a little brooch to do up the matching scarf. I decided to keep everything in the same fabric. The pattern is very busy, therefore I didn't want to add another colour or material to it.

It will be available in our webshop.

This was Christmas

It went quicker than expected. As always. We had such a blast hosting Christmas this year. My parents were over (in fact they are flying back tomorrow) and my inlaws came down for Christmas day (including my sister in law and Dave's grandma) I cooked the turkey and about a million trimmings and filled everyone up so much, we didn't even make it to the desert. Must have been good then.
I couldn't believe the amounts of presents exchanged....and we are supposed to be in a recession.....not in this house it seems. Anyway I am so happy and grateful everyone had a good time and an aching belly later. My friend Julie and her son Joe joined us in the evening for booze and yet more food of course and funny stories. I was glad that I had to translate for my parents therefore I was the least embarrassed as I was able to filter the amount of information passed on (NOT)
On to the new year now. Can't wait for that to start with "Butterflies and Hurricanes" ready to set of to the next level.

Cheerio!!!

Christmas Spirit

Ohh I have once again started this blog from scratch after abandoning it for many months.
It's almost Christmas and a new year just around the corner. I am looking forward to both. The holidays and the new year. Not that this one was bad at all but the new year seems promising. This year was full of exiting events. Dave and I got married, moved into our own home and I started my own label together with my workmate Julie. We both met in the bridal shop we work but looking at some of the crappy outfits we sell on the mother of the bride/ occasion wear side and some of the old fashioned bridesmaids dresses and prom dresses we got inspired to offer something else.
It is old fashioned in the right way at least. We started making vintage inspired clothes and accessories. I am making all the clothes using vintage and vintage inspired patterns as well as drafting my own. I use new materials and some vintage finds. Unfortunately it's getting more and more difficult sourcing vintage fabrics that are big enough pieces to make up complete dresses.
Julie however is using vintage materials and transforms them into bags. She also designs all the headpieces available from us using mainly feathers.
We have just completed a couple of extremely successful vintage/fashion fairs and are ready for more.
I have just started setting up our own myspace which isn't really worth announcing yet but I will post details soon.
I also opened up our own online shop. The first dresses went online last night but there is a lot more coming up shortly.

But for now I am off to Stansted Airport to pick up my parents who I haven't seen since my wedding in July. I am planing to have the most amazing Christmas ever. The whole Hampson family and my parents will be with us for Christmas dinner. I am cooking. Lets see how that goes. I am very confident in my cooking skills so watch out turkeys!!!
Merry Christmas everyone
