Life lately....I have moved to paradise............

Hello from the beach

I am back after a few weeks of silence here on the blog. My husband and I have been busy moving house from Berkshire to North Devon. We initially were hoping to be moving back to Germany for a few years but my husband got posted to Devon instead. I was a bit miffed at first because a lot of our plans fell through but now we are here I could not be happier. It's one of the most beautiful areas in the UK I have been to and I still can not believe I get to live here for the next three years.

I'm going to leave you with a few impressions of our first few outing here, exploring the local area.

Saunton sands, this is the closest beach to us and I love how endlessly long it is.

We haven't filled up our car since we left Reading two weeks ago as you can cycle everywhere around here. I love it!

View of Appledore from Instow across the river Torridge. So pretty!

So soooooo happy!

Have you ever been to Devon? If yes, what are your favourite places to visit/things to do and see? Please share as I don't want to miss out on anything while we are here. If you have never been, I highly recommend a visit. It's just so, so beautiful.

  1. Aw, you're very lucky to live in Devon! Lots to see and do, lots of vintage related sightseeing - Agatha Christie's house Greenway, art deco paradise Burgh Island is off the coast, and Torquay is where lots of Poirot was filmed.

Have fun exploring, and I hope you and your husband will be very happy there!

    1. Thank you for all your great suggestions. They'll go right on the to-do list. We are very happy here and still can't believe we don't have to go back after the holiday is over. This felt like home soooo quickly.

  2. Gosh - that's quite a contrast, moving from Reading to Devon! I'm so happy you like it. I had the impression that you weren't aware of how lovely Devon is when you mentioned you were going there.

We are on hols in North Cornwall next week and I can't wait.

Make sure you visit Tintagel and Clovelly. Even though they are very touristy they are fabulous. Enjoy yourselves. I wish it were me!

    1. I have been to Exeter and Exmoor before and down to Teignmouth in Cornwall so I already knew it will be quite a special place to move to. I hope you will have a great time in your holiday. I will make sure I add your suggestions to our bucket list. Clovelly has been recommended many times now so it's ranking very high already.

    1. I'm not sorry anymore. The place we initially wanted to move to in Germany can't compete with this place in any way. I think if we had known this was an option we would have never even thought twice about where we'd rather be. I feel very lucky we get the opportunity to live in places this wonderful.

  5. St Ives down in Cornwall is one of the most beautiful places! Gorgeous beaches.
I'd be grabbing some cream tea - scones with clotted cream and jam! Just divine!
In devon I believe it's cream on the scone first - then jam and in cornwall, jam then cream!
    Yum Yum!
