This one is actually a cheat as I have made this dress ages ago. It's the Betty dress from the Mad Men challenge. Yep, that sash still hasn't happened. I think it won't happen either. The sash makes it very dressy. This way I will wear it a lot more.
Uhm, what is that purple because not only am I peeing myself with need, I have some fabric in the stash that will work accordingly.
ReplyDeleteIt's an evening dress. The top is chinese silk brocade with a satin skirt with pleated waist detail. The design was based on another dress my customer had found but it wasn't the right fabric or colour so we adapted the style to suit her in the right colour combination. I drafted the pattern myself.
DeleteIt's beautiful!
DeleteThat red bow blouse is DIVINE. The bottom dress with the lovely back and bow is so pretty - did you use a pattern for it? It's quite stunning!
ReplyDeleteI adapted one of my standard fitted bodice patterns for this one to be backless and the skirt is relatively simple. Slightly A-line pleated underneath where the front seams of the bodice hit and again pleated in the back.
DeleteThe bow is optional. I attached it with tiny clear poppers to sit at the back and hide the zip.
I hope this helps and makes sense. I am not very good at explaining things. Then again, you are such a clever seamstress anyway, Meg.
Oh my goodness! You've been busy... Those high waisted jeans in particular are incredible xxx
