These trousers make me feel like Buster Keaton...

I made a long leg version of my wool-y shorts to see how this pattern turns out. I loved the shorts so much and wide legged trousers are my favourite trouser style, so I went ahead and made them up in a salt and pepper suiting material and I must say I am in love. They were straight forward to make. Well, just like the shorts just longer.....and no cuffs.

I added buttons to the waistband again so I can wear them with my vintage braces and must say I feel a little Buster Keaton, wearing them. To me, that's a good thing. I can see more versions in the future.

There was a little bit of fabric left over from the trousers which I turned into a matching beret. I am getting prepared to brave the colder temperatures coming.

And a picture with kitty for good measure.

She hates being picked up, can you tell?

Anyone else sewing for the colder days in the near future? If yes, what are you making?

  1. hallo Bea,

  2. Ummm...YES to everything about these trousers. Buttons for braces? A matching beret? Salt and pepper suiting? These trousers are perfection :)

    1. Thanks Meg, I am so chuffed with these and highly recommend the pattern. It doesn't look like much on the envelope but sure deliveres on the sewing table.

  3. I love wide leg trousers with braces. i have a few pairs of braces which i love to match with any outfit as they are my favourite accessory. in recent times i have bought two pairs of wide leg trousers with braces in black also in white and a high waisted pencil skirt with braces in grey. these are from well known designers and cost a bit ( probably to much ). i will say your pants and even your shorts with braces look more stylish and more comfortable than what i just got and would say if their not the best they would be a very close 2nd best to any pair i have ever seen. you are very talented. they look great and suit you perfect.

    1. Oh thank you so much for your compliment Rachael. I am very happy with both pairs of shorts and the trousers. I know how difficult it is to find a great pair of trousers.

  4. I love them! You've inspired me to pull out the wool I bought last year and sew up some wide legged trousers :)

  5. You are a talented seamstress, Bea - the pants with braces look great! The braces go better with the vintage style, wide-leg pants.
    Do you wear braces often?
You've probably discovered they are super comfortable, moreso then a belt. What other outfits do you wear braces with?
