I hope a few experienced knitters join this so beginners or people like me who just are very slow and not that good at knitting have someone to ask questions if we get stuck.
These are the patterns I thought are not too difficult. They are rated two yarn balls (one is easy, two is medium and three is advanced), the one yarn ball pattern in this book is a scarf, the other one a wrap, which I have chosen as one of the styles to chose from.
These are the options:
The Evening Wrap
Tube Top and Bolero
Small Jacket
Angora Bolero
I would love a knitting sew along but still struggling to find a comfortable way to hold my needles/ yarn. If I ever manage to do it I'll join a sew along without a doubt.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like so much fun! School's keeping me so busy though I don't know if I'd have time to keep up. Hopefully sometime soon!
ReplyDeleteI'd be interested, I'm an experienced knitter and I'm currently knitting a series of items from vintage patterns so I'm used to interpreting them.
ReplyDeleteThe evening wrap is lovely.
@ Suzy and Evie, I am a very slow knitter because I am not the most experienced but maybe this will be a good way to learn and improve my skills. It would be nice if you decided to join.
ReplyDelete@ Louiz, I will probably have loads of questions, so be prepared to hear from me a lot. What other things are you working on at the moment?
I'm an experienced knitter and love all the patterns, but really like the 'angora' bolero; although I'd use alpaca!
ReplyDeleteI'd be very interested in a knit along :) I'm not the greatest knitter. I've taken a few classes and have made a few things. working with a group would certainly motivate me to try something a bit more difficult.
ReplyDeleteCount me in, please!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lot of fun, I would like to knit along , not sure if I would keep up as I have a few projects going now, but it would be interesting to follow along anyway.
ReplyDeleteLOL -- those are all too advanced for me as of yet. If I were up to it, the Angora Bolero is my favorite. I'll be following your progress with interest!
ReplyDeleteI would love to be a part of a knit-along. I am an experienced knitter and would be interested in making any of these patterns. I look forward to hearing more about it. :o)
ReplyDeleteI need a kick in the pants to get started with knitting, hopefully this will do the trick! I'm a left handed beginner attempting to learn right handed knitting, this could all go terribly wrong but will hopefully be fun too!
ReplyDeleteI might be interested. Have you looked on Ravelry for help and resources about these patterns? It might also be a good idea to create a group for the knit-along on there.
ReplyDeleteVery experienced knitter here, if anyone needs help :-)
ReplyDeleteAlso I have just that shade of angora for a bolero ;-)
I would definitely be interested in a knit along. I just happen to have a book from the 50's with some very similar patterns to the ones you posted. :D
ReplyDeleteI'm an experienced knitter & would LOVE to do a knit along!
ReplyDeleteI have a couple of projects on my needles already, but I'm a semi-experienced knitter and I would love to do a knit-along! I really like the small jacket and the evening wrap.
ReplyDeleteIf you're a member of Ravelry, you should start a group about the knit along - even if I don't end up a part of it, I'd love to see all of your work on it!
I love the patterns!
ReplyDeleteI'm not very good with anything-alongs though, but it could be worth a try? It doesn't look too time-consuming, and if I don't manage to follow, only I will fell the guilt...
Yes please, count me in, and I think i'm in love with the small jacket!
ReplyDeleteBea, I'm working on a series of vests, from Knitting for All (Illustrated) By Jane Koster and Margaret Murray (an Odhams book from somewhere between 1945 and 1950 at a guess). They are children's vests although I will be making a man's vest and a woman's vest as well from elsewhere in the book for the Knitting and Crochet Guild's Period Garment Scheme.
ReplyDeleteFirst bit of advice I would say is: make a swatch and check you're getting the right gauge as names and weights have changed somewhat since the book was published. Also if you can get your hands on needles in imperial sizes rather than modern metric equivalents it will help!
It sounds like fun! I would love to join in with the knit along!!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to join, the pink fluffy bolero is crying out to be made.

I'd love to join in. I'm an intermediate knitter. I want to make that bolero
